  1. Not me. I took that test as it is all of a sudden popular in Urbana too. I got “100% Beginner, 93% Intermediate, 93% Advanced, and 72% Expert!” which says I am an “advanced” English speaker.

    I mostly got good marks in English classes back in school which I suppose makes sense since I speak it at home unlike my classmates, but some of my English teachers were of the anal type and would yell and yell at me for getting a “who” vs. “whom” question wrong (which is why I know it now!!!) and I would find myself sitting mad at my desk thinking, you know, let’s parachute YOU and ME into NYC and see who gets along better SHALL WE???

    I never did learn that “IPA – international phonetic alphabet” although nowadays I wish I’d paid more attention. I wonder if they use that in English classes in Taiwan schools too…

    Once I got to college there was no more “English” for me, it was all about “Making of the Modern World” (‘cuz I chose the WRONG college, but hey) where I learned the best lesson of college, namely, you don’t have to do ALL the reading to survive…
