Hi folks,
I’ve decided to move my blog over to my own server hosted at the URL http://blog.jameslick.com. I’ve installed a crossposting plugin, so my postings will continue to be crossposted on LiveJournal for the time being.
It’s kind of interesting. I used to blog at my own site and then got a bit kind of squeamish about it since I liked to blog things that I didn’t want to be archived. But that said, I’m impressed by all the steps you took to bring LJ over to here. I think you’ve figured out something that we were trying to deal with in saving a comm, and I’ll have to look more into what you did.
Actually I prefer it to be on my own server since I can control the backups and so forth. As for moving a community, that might be a bit harder. The jbackup script looks like it only supports backing up users. The crossposting plugin I use, LJXP, does support crossposting to a community though.
